Florida Attorney General 2026: two November names
Florida’s Attorney General race is a cabinet office with a short live field. Incumbent James Uthmeier is the Republican. Jose Javier Rodriguez is the Democrat. Both party primaries were canceled. Both names are on the November 3, 2026 general ballot. We will not invent a third AG name.
Confirm whether Attorney General prints on your November 3 sample ballot. That civic check is the first job. Values scores are the second. Rubric: how we score. Card habits: how to read a card. Independent editorial — see About — not a party HQ and not the Office of the Attorney General.
What “primary canceled” meant after August 18
For governor, for CFO, for Agriculture, and for many U.S. House seats, August 18 nominated. The primary was mostly nominations. A registered Republican picks a Republican. A registered Democrat picks a Democrat. Closed-primary rules apply. That is closed primary for church voters, and it is why book-closing on July 20, 2026 still mattered for those other offices.
Attorney General is the exception on this cabinet. The Republican primary is canceled. The Democratic primary is canceled. Uthmeier’s status on the live card is incumbent — advanced (R primary canceled). Rodriguez’s status is advanced (D primary canceled). There was no AG nomination contest for a party voter to settle on August 18. If your precinct PDF omits the office, that is often the reason, not a printing error. How to read the PDF: how to read a Florida sample ballot. How to vote, including mail received by Election Day: how to vote.
November 3 is when these two names are built to meet. We do not treat a canceled primary as a general-election victory. We do not write “Uthmeier won Tuesday.” August 18 did not hold an AG primary for anyone to win.
James Uthmeier (R, incumbent) — 32 / 28 / 19 · Grade B
Institutional conservative Attorney General. Not a Christ-first campaign brand in the sources on the card. Christian 32 is a high-mid faith-policy number on an incumbent Republican legal agenda — pro-life and parental-rights adjacency through the office, not a “Christ is King” gubernatorial mailer. Constitution 28 is the strongest Constitution bar on this two-person field: DeSantis-era legal-agenda alignment, law-and-order cabinet signal. GOP 19 is near the ceiling, one point under a perfect institutional 20.
Grade B means multi-source. It does not mean “this office is important, so the letter is A.” Compare the special Senate card already live: Ashley B. Moody 33 / 29 / 20 · Grade C. Moody’s Christian bar is one point above Uthmeier’s. Moody’s letter is C because that Senate card is not the deepest memo in the file. High letter is depth. High bar is values. The Senate essay already live is U.S. Senate special 2026 values.
The card’s faith note is the honest limit. If you opened this page looking for a 44 Christian governor brand, you will not find it. The governor’s race — a different office — lives on Florida governor 2026 values. We do not reprint that field. Uthmeier is a cabinet lawyer, not a Christ-named gubernatorial brand.
A DeSantis callout sits on the card as statewide Republican AG / DeSantis-era legal-agenda alignment. Badges are filters, not extra points. Longer rules: callout badges explained. Do not add 5 phantom points on top of 32 / 28 / 19 because the badge is there.
Jose Javier Rodriguez (D) — 0 / 2 / 0 · Grade B
No continuous Jesus grid. Progressive labor / Democrat Attorney General candidate. Former state senator. Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor. Workers’ rights lawyer. Labor endorsements in public coverage include AFSCME, FEA, and the Florida Professional Firefighters against Uthmeier. The card’s paleo note is blunt: labor- union endorsement stack, low Constitution for this guide.
Christian 0. Constitution 2. GOP 0. Grade B is multi-source. It is not “almost Uthmeier.” It is not a mid-30s Christian score waiting to be unlocked by a kind email. David Jolly’s 0 / 3 / 0 · Grade B on the Democratic governor side is the same habit: a real look at a Democrat whose public record is not a Jesus / Constitution / GOP match. Same letter as Uthmeier. The bars are not. The numbers are low on this rubric because the public record is a labor Democrat, not because we refused to look.
November 3 is when these two names print on the same style. Do not promote the B into a values win. Do not discard the B as “we ignored Democrats.” We scored the name.
How to use a two-name cabinet card
Add the bars if you want a 100-point sort. Uthmeier is 79. Rodriguez is 2. That gap is this site’s weighting — Christian first, then Constitution, then GOP. It is not a poll. It is not a prediction of November 3. A voter who personally weights labor enforcement above a conservative AG agenda will not rank these names the way our total does. That is allowed. It is why we publish the three bars instead of a single “vote here” stamp.
The letter split is B versus B. Read that as similar public-trail depth, not as a secret preference on top of the 79-to-2 gap. Orange School Board District 3 still has Susanne Marie Pena 20 / 14 / 6 · Grade A on the live file — school boards is the essay. Do not collapse depth into values.
Other cabinet offices also print on November 3. CFO and Agriculture live cards sit on Florida cabinet 2026 values. We do not have a Secretary of State essay. U.S. House is a district job: U.S. House 2026 values. Judges are a canons job: Florida judicial races.
What we will not do with this page
We will not write a third AG name. We will not invent a Republican or Democratic challenger who is not on the live card. We will not declare a November winner from this chair.
We will not bulk-upgrade Rodriguez’s letter to A to make the field look symmetrical, and we will not drop Uthmeier to C because someone wanted Moody’s letter pattern on every statewide Republican. If a number is wrong, send a campaign page, news story, questionnaire, recorded vote, or named source to hello@jesusvoter.com. Process: how JesusVoter corrects a score. Private faith does not change a number. We score what a voter can verify.
Florida’s ZIP guide is /fl. Texas is /tx. Certified November amendments are a different object with no 45 / 35 / 20 card: Florida’s 2026 amendments. Orange mayor, if that is on your style: Orange County mayor 2026. County landings: /counties. Contact: /contact.
Open the home guide. Pull the official style by full address. If Attorney General is absent from your November 3 PDF, that is a precinct fact, not a hole in your rights. November 3 is the remaining AG style we are willing to talk about.
