Broward County November 3, 2026 general voter guide

Broward is the Fort Lauderdale county in the middle of the South Florida tri-county strip — not Miami-Dade to the south and not Palm Beach to the north. Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Davie, Plantation, Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach, and Weston all sit under one school district and one 17th Judicial Circuit, then split into commission and school-board districts that a single ZIP cannot guess. Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport are the cargo-and-cruise pair that define this county’s tax base the way MCO defines Orange and Port Tampa Bay defines Hillsborough. JesusVoter scores the public record on Christian / faith policy, Constitution & liberty, and GOP alignment. Numbers below are those values scores not a prediction of who will be elected.

Broward’s August 18 card is school-board heavy. Districts 1, 4, 6, and 7 are district-limited; At-Large Seat 8 prints countywide. County Commission District 6 is a Democratic primary in a deep-blue seat — the nomination is the practical decision for that district, and only District 6 voters see it. Judicial groups (17th Circuit Group 52, County Court Group 11) are nonpartisan. A Las Olas precinct and a Coral Springs precinct share statewide races and Seat 8, then diverge. Statewide races (every Broward voter)

Fort Lauderdale voters still mark the same governor and special Senate lines as the rest of Florida. Property-insurance and statewide education fights land differently on a Broward condo belt than they do in a rural Panhandle county, which is why the scored statewide names are printed here instead of being waved off as “open the guide.”

Governor of Florida

Open Republican primary for a term-limited seat. Scored Republican field on file:

U.S. Senate (Special)

Special Senate election on the statewide ballot. Scored name on file: Ashley B. Moody (R) 42 / 28 / 20 A.

Local primary races on file for Broward

Featured local field is Broward School Board District 6, the five-candidate nonpartisan race that includes the DeSantis-appointed incumbent. Other school-board seats, Commission District 6, and two judicial groups follow from this guide.

Broward School Board District 6

Nonpartisan · district voters only · featured race

Adam Cervera is scored 28 / 22 / 16 D: no Jesus grid on file, DeSantis-appointed incumbent attorney, the only Republican in the field, with a Broward PBA endorsement. Lester L. Wilks Jr. (22 / 16 / 10 F) is an after-care owner with an enrollment-decline critique and a weaker partisan/culture trail than Cervera; Jessie Bastos (20 / 16 / 8 F) is tech sales with an iVoterGuide liberal listing and Ruth’s List note; Roberto Fernandez (20 / 16 / 8 F) is teacher / Army Reserve; Makai Aline Henry (18 / 14 / 6 F) is a 20-year-old substitute with progressive-adjacent listings.

Broward County Commission District 6

Democratic primary · district voters only

Four Democrats, no continuous Jesus grid. Thin Dem trail on this guide — empty-Jesus band, not a finished mid-band fingerprint. Archibald John Ryan IV has the strongest municipal-executive signal (prior mayor + commissioner); Eugen Mihai Bold is inside-county staff experience; Caryl Sandler Shuham is a longtime Hollywood Democratic commissioner; Jeffery Jones is a repeat challenger with thinner public differentiation.

Florida 17th Circuit Court Group 52

Nonpartisan

Tamar Hamilton is scored 26 / 24 / 13 D as Florida Family Action listed on the 2026 Judicial Primary guide (biblical-worldview vetting), with no full Jesus/Gospel campaign because of judicial canons. David Andrew Fry (18 / 20 / 10 F) and Kathleen O'Brien Hinkle (18 / 20 / 10 F) are not FFA-listed and sit in the mid Constitution judicial band used for non-listed opponents.

Broward School Board District 1

Nonpartisan · district voters only

Carmen Gimenez is scored 4 / 4 / 2 F: no continuous Jesus grid. R registration is not a faith-school brand. GOP 2 is the R-registration crumb on an NPA ballot. Maura McCarthy Bulman is 16 / 16 / 5 F on a progressive D / Young Democrats / labor lane with an institutional attorney-incumbent process profile.

Broward School Board District 4

Nonpartisan · district voters only

Close progressive pair after a Florida Politics same-depth pass, both with no continuous Jesus grid and republican floors. Sharry Kimmel is 16 / 16 / 5 F (educator credentials; progressive Dem institutional endorsement stack; late party-switch note). Nicole Morst is 15 / 15 / 5 F (SAC process experience; progressive Dem / Moms Demand lane; slight institutional Dem-depth edge).

Broward School Board District 7

Nonpartisan · district voters only

Cynthia Alceus Dominique is scored 22 / 18 / 6 F on Army-veteran public-service mid Christian-adjacency, with D registration keeping republican low-mid, plus a military/nurse and fiscal-challenge focus after a Local10 / Sun Sentinel pass. Rochelle Soffer is 18 / 16 / 5 F: no continuous Jesus grid, educator progressive lane, classroom-professional mid paleo below the multi-endorsed veteran.

Broward School Board At-Large Seat 8

Nonpartisan · countywide

Allen Zeman is scored 18 / 17 / 6 F: no continuous Jesus grid, progressive institutional D incumbent, economist fiscal credentials, slight edge on multi-outlet endorsement and incumbent record after a Sun Sentinel same-depth pass. Sonja Azim is 16 / 16 / 5 F on a progressive D safety-professional lane with a republican floor, below the multi-endorsed incumbent.

Broward County Court Group 11

Nonpartisan

Debi Gheorge Alten is scored 24 / 24 / 13 D: no public Jesus/Gospel or life/family policy grid found; registered-R listing is party data, not a Christian campaign, with a slight Constitution/law-and-order lean from private civil practice versus a Dem-org-endorsed prosecutor. Veronica N. Walker is 23 / 21 / 8 F: no public Jesus/Gospel policy grid; prosecutor résumé is a modest law-and-order plus, with Dem club/editorial endorsements and a hate-crimes-unit brand keeping Constitution mid.
