882 baptisms and Jesus has changed everything

Lakepointe Church baptized 882 people on September 27 across its Dallas-area campuses. Pastor Josh Howerton said almost 900 people went under the water. One of them was an 81-year-old father, baptized by a son who had prayed for about 35 years. Breitbart’s report quotes the church: “Jesus has changed everything.”

Amy Furr’s Breitbart report says Lakepointe Church announced that 882 baptisms took place across several of their campuses in the Dallas Texas area on September 27. The church led by senior pastor Josh Howerton said 882 people chose to follow Jesus Christ and the congregation that meets at eight different campuses is celebrating lives being changed. In a social media post the church said there are few things more powerful than watching someone publicly say my life belongs to Jesus and that this weekend 882 people were baptized across Lakepointe Church. That number is real people with real stories. People who have walked through addiction broken relationships doubt loss success that still left them empty and still far from God. And now they are standing in the water saying Jesus has changed everything and He is who He says He is. Never stop praying for one more to know Christ. Howerton wrote after the massive event that almost 900 people were baptized that day at Lakepointe and that his body was tired and his heart full with sweaty eyes and a kite caught in a hurricane of grace. He shared a photo of a family in the baptismal waters and told their story. An 81-year-old dad getting baptized by his son who prayed about thirty-five years for his salvation. Three generations in the water. If they are still breathing there is still hope. The church asked social media users to share their stories and one woman said she her husband and their two children were among those baptized. Just a year ago they were in a completely different place battling illnesses addictions and a broken marriage. In February she underwent her eleventh surgery and found herself crying out for God asking Him to take over and she opened her Bible and started watching Christian podcasts and then one night her husband walked in on a Lakepointe podcast and seven months later they have been healthier and happier than ever committed every aspect of their lives to Christ. All the glory goes to God. Breitbart also notes that in March over 50 unmarried cohabitating couples were married in a joint ceremony at Lakepointe after Howerton challenged them to follow Jesus Christ and preached about God’s design for marriage.

Being a Christian in America this week is refusing to let the migrant boat lockdown and the fascism concert intro and the Senate horse race crowd out 882 people who publicly said their lives belong to Jesus. Keep praying for one more. And do not confuse a tired body and sweaty eyes with a party that forgot the Name.
