Vote no means yes to life
Bishop Michael Burbidge told Virginia Catholics to vote no on an amendment that would write a broad abortion right into the state constitution. He also said the Church does not tell people which candidate to pick. Elizabeth Weibel’s report is the source. A no on that amendment is a yes to the child.
In a Catholics Vote No video Breitbart quotes Burbidge saying Question 1 proposes an extreme and vague change that creates a legal right to unregulated abortion performed by unlicensed practitioners at any time during pregnancy that threatens mothers and would allow abortions targeting healthy babies all the way up to birth and that extends the so-called right even to minors and removes parents from life-altering decisions for their daughters. Abortion is already legal in Virginia he said but what is on the ballot this fall expands it beyond what most citizens recognize as reasonable limits. Question 2 would remove from the state constitution the truth that marriage is between one man and one woman and enshrine gender ideology by falsely separating sex and gender. The Diocese of Arlington letter asks Catholics to pledge at CatholicsVoteNo.com plan early voting that began September 18 and speak in truth and love to turn out voters who will protect life and marriage. The Virginia Department of Elections puts Question 1 on the November 3 2026 ballot as a fundamental right to reproductive freedom including abortion care with third-trimester regulation only if a physician judges the mother’s life or physical or mental health at risk or the fetus not viable. A party platform is not baptism. A midterm is not fidelity.
Being a Christian in America this week is voting no so the yes to life and marriage can stand and refusing to confuse reproductive freedom language with protecting mothers and children. Keep the unborn. Keep the marriage vow. And do not confuse a ballot question with the Gospel.
