Provocative is not repentance

James Talarico told Fox News he was “being provocative” when he said God is nonbinary. In the same sitting he walked back a 2021 claim of six biological sexes and said there are two, a man and a woman. Breitbart’s clip is the record. Calling it provocative is not the same as taking it back.

Taylor put the 2021 line to him straight: God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between God is non-binary do you still stand by that. Talarico said he was being provocative and that what he meant is you cannot use human categories to define God. Taylor answered with Scripture Christians actually read Mark 10:6 from the beginning of creation God made them male and female clearly the Bible does not state that in-between. Talarico pivoted again to God being bigger than every human category and to loving thy neighbor. That is not the same thing as keeping the verse. Neighbor-love does not erase creation order and a preacher who campaigns as ministry while sanding down male and female is not being pastoral he is being political.

The same Fox sit-down produced a second Breitbart clip where Talarico walked back his 2021 Public Education Committee claim of six biological sexes. “No I’ve missed the mark on some of my past statements,” he said. “There are not six sexes there are two.” When Taylor asked him to nail it down he said “Absolutely” there are two sexes a man and a woman then blamed Republicans for wanting to talk about six sexes instead of diesel prices. A Christian can care about groceries and still notice that the man asking for a Senate seat spent years catechizing Texas in progressive sex theology and only discovered “absolutely” when Fox put a microphone in his face days before a midterm convention across the street.

Being a Christian in America this week is watching a Democrat Senate nominee try to keep Jesus on the stump while Mark 10:6 gets treated like an optional footnote. Keep the verse. Love your neighbor. And do not confuse a midterm pivot with a changed heart.
