Abdul El-Sayed went after JD Vance’s marriage after the vice president said criticizing Sharia is not white supremacy

Breitbart put this fight on the homepage this Sunday and they did not bury the lede and the line sitting on breitbart.com August 23 2026 is that Michigan Democrat U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed who is Muslim answered Vice President JD Vance on Sharia by going after JD Vance’s marriage and we opened MXM News trending and we opened Live Action and this one was the Breitbart lead because Abdul El-Sayed would not take the question about the law and he took a swing at a wife and that is not a theological debate and it is not a labor speech and it is a tell and it is a bad influence for Christians and for the general public.

JD Vance asked about Sharia and Abdul El-Sayed answered with Usha

JD Vance spoke to American workers and Breitbart printed the sentence he used and the vice president said El-Sayed this guy running for senate in Michigan he once argued not too long ago that criticisms of Sharia law were rooted in white supremacy and I would love to go back in time and tell my Papaw that there is a man who claims to stand for working people who says not only should we have Sharia law but if you criticize it you are a white supremacist and that is not my Papaw’s Democrat Party my friends and that is the whole charge and it is about the law and it is about whether a Christian or a union man or a grandmother in Michigan is a bigot for saying American courts do not take orders from a foreign code.

Abdul El-Sayed posted on Saturday and Breitbart printed the post and the post is So do we think JD is taking Usha with him back in time to meet Papaw or no and that is not an answer to Sharia and that is a joke aimed at a marriage and Breitbart writes that JD Vance’s wife Usha and her family are Hindu and would not impose Sharia law on Americans and if that line is true then dragging her into a Sharia fight is even cheaper because she is not the nominee and she did not give the speech and she is the wife and Genesis 2:24 still says a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife and you do not hold fast to a wife by offering her up as a racial prop when the question on the table is the law.

A covenant is not a campaign prop

Christian first means the marriage is older than the midterms and older than the party and older than the clip and a wife is not a human shield you hide behind when someone asks whether criticizing Sharia is white supremacy and American second means you can love this country and still say the courts here do not run on a private religious code and Republican third means Mike Rogers is the Republican on that Michigan ballot and Breitbart says a recent AARP survey found Mike Rogers and Abdul El-Sayed virtually tied and we will not invent a winner and we will not invent a percentage and MXM trending listed a Michigan nail-biter headline about those two names.

Breitbart also writes that Abdul El-Sayed has refused to apologize for vile remarks about JD Vance’s wife and family and they say they reported that in May and we will print that as their report and we will not invent what those May remarks were because we did not open that older file tonight.

The same Sunday piece says Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign has confirmed he complies with Sharia law in his personal life according to resurfaced comments from 2009 when he described it as being a lifelong obligation and personal obedience is not the same thing as writing the American criminal code and a Christian can grant a man the right to keep his own house and still refuse the smear that says criticizing Sharia makes you a white supremacist because criticizing a legal system is not hating a neighbor and the First Amendment is not a hate crime.

He called it a question about who is American

Abdul El-Sayed later answered JD Vance in an interview and Breitbart printed the tape and he said he is painting this picture of going back in time to talk to his Papaw about me and now why is he pointing to me and why is Donald Trump pointing to me and they are pointing to me to try and say somehow I am less of an American than they are and what does that have to do with I do not know the color of my skin how I pray and the confusing thing about it is that he thinks there are some people who are more American than others because they can point to their Papaw who was here earlier and then he added and my question to him is simply why is it how do you look your parents-in-law in the eye and say that somehow they are less American than you are because that is what he is implying there.

That is a clever pivot and it is still a pivot because JD Vance’s printed sentence was not your skin is the problem and it was not your in-laws are less American and it was the claim that criticisms of Sharia law were rooted in white supremacy and if you answer a law question with a wife and then a skin question you have already told the room you do not want to defend the first sentence and Christians in this country have heard that move before and it is the move that says if you will not bless the new rule you must hate the person and the person is not the issue and the rule is the issue and a marriage is not the rule.

Usha is a wife and that is enough reason to leave her out of a Senate clip and parents-in-law are not the nominee and Papaw is not on the ballot in Michigan and the man on the ballot is Abdul El-Sayed who posted the joke and who will not apologize according to Breitbart’s May report and whose campaign confirmed a personal Sharia obligation from 2009 and none of that makes him less human and none of that makes a Christian less free to say American law is not Sharia and a covenant is not a punchline.

A bad influence for the church and for the country

Live Action’s Sunday homepage was other stories and we will not pretend they led with this one and we will not invent a life-issue quote they did not print and the reason this still belongs on a Christian page is that marriage and law and speech are not side quests and they are the house you live in and if Abdul El-Sayed can turn a Sharia question into a joke about a Hindu wife then the church should notice because the next joke will be about your church and your pastor and your kids when you say the same thing in a smaller room.

Abdul El-Sayed is a bad influence for Christians and for the general public and that is not a secret quote we invented and it is the reading of what Breitbart printed because he taught the room that a legal argument is racial sin and that a wife is fair game and that American memory is a smear and young men copy the men they watch and if they watch El-Sayed they learn to dodge and to mock a covenant and if they watch JD Vance they at least hear a man name the law out loud and the church cannot afford the first lesson.

Christian first and American second and Republican third and the smallest lens is the party and the largest lens is the covenant and the covenant is why you do not offer a wife to the crowd and why you do not call a legal argument racial sin and why you can look at a virtually tied Michigan race and still refuse to invent who won it and keep the sentence that actually happened because it is the sermon and Abdul El-Sayed went after JD Vance’s marriage after the vice president said criticizing Sharia is not white supremacy.
